Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) Platform for Patient Engagement & CPT Reimbursement
Clinii’s Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) platform empowers healthcare providers to engage patients between visits with daily reminders, guided therapy videos, and symptom tracking. Built for musculoskeletal and respiratory care, Clinii supports better outcomes, stronger patient-provider partnerships, and full CPT code compliance for RTM reimbursement.
What is Remote Therapeutic Monitoring?
Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) utilizes technology to monitor and manage patient therapy remotely, improving outcomes by adapting treatments based on real-time data and enhancing patient-provider communication. Clinii’s RTM solution meets CMS requirements and supports RTM CPT codes 98975–98981, enabling scalable remote care delivery for physical therapists, respiratory therapists, and other qualified providers.

Primary Aims of Remote Therapeutic Monitoring
Enhance Continuity of Care With Remote Monitoring
RTM is a powerful method for healthcare providers to maintain oversight of patient care between visits, especially for those managing musculoskeletal or respiratory conditions. By remotely tracking therapy adherence, symptom changes, and usage of therapeutic devices, providers can plan for timely, informed interventions. This real-time visibility improves continuity of care and supports the creation of personalized treatment strategies that adapt as patient needs evolve.
Boost RTM Patient Engagement & Accountability
RTM encourages patient accountability and engagement. When patients are aware that their activity, symptoms, and therapy adherence are being monitored, they are more likely to comply with prescribed treatment plans. This heightened engagement results in improved clinical outcomes and reduces the likelihood of complications or hospital readmissions.
Enable Proactive Clinical Interventions With RTM
Rather than having to wait for scheduled visits to address patient issues, RTM allows clinicians to
intervene proactively as needed based on remotely captured data. This approach is especially beneficial for physical therapists, occupational therapists, and respiratory therapists, who can adjust care plans in real time without necessitating an in-person appointment.
Use RTM Software for Streamlined Monitoring
Clinii’s RTM software dramatically enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of remote monitoring programs by automating the collection of patient-reported outcomes, monitoring therapy progress, and generating timely alerts when deviations from expected outcomes occur. This helps providers identify and respond to concerns more quickly, reducing manual tracking and ensuring critical data isn’t missed.
Empower Patients With RTM Tools & Apps
Clinii’s RTM platform includes patient-facing applications that provide daily reminders, instructional videos, symptom tracking, and an easy-to-use interface for reporting adherence and progress. This not only
promotes self-management but also builds a stronger, more collaborative relationship between providers and their patients.
Maximize RTM Reimbursement & Operational Efficiency
RTM also introduces new opportunities for practice sustainability through CMS-approved CPT codes that support reimbursement for remote monitoring services. Clinii’s platform includes built-in documentation, coding, and billing features to ensure compliance and streamline operations, thereby reducing administrative burden while maximizing the financial benefits of incorporating RTM into routine clinical care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Remote Therapeutic Monitoring
Can RTM Be Used for Non-Physiological Data?
Yes. RTM is designed for the management of patients using medical devices that collect non-physiological data. Data around indicators such as therapy/medication adherence, therapy/medication response, and pain level can
be collected and billed under the new RTM codes.
Does RTM Require the Use of a Medical Device, or Can it Be Just a Wellness Wearable?
RTM requires the use of a medical device as defined under the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act (i.e., not merely a wellness device).
Is RTM Limited to Respiratory and Musculoskeletal Conditions?
Yes. The clinical use cases eligible for device supply reimbursement under RTM are limited. The two RTM device supply codes (98976 and 98977) are similar to the RPM device supply code (99454), but not identical.
What software features support RTM billing and documentation?
Clinii’s RTM platform includes built-in tools for coding, billing, and CMS-compliant documentation. These features streamline care team workflows and support accurate reimbursement under CPT codes 98975–98981.
